RCSSA HONORY LIFE MEMBER STRENGTHENS TIES
She still finds work both challenging and enjoyable. Independent Healthcare Advisory Services (IHAS) and the complaints arm of her company (ISCAS) has continued to achieve its objectives. For her it continues to be a privilege to be involved in the independent sector representative on the UK Revalidation Implementation Board to take forward Medical Revalidation. She was honoured in September with the Independent Healthcare Ambassador for 2010 Award at the annual Laing and Buisson dinner. A winner to this category should demonstrate how he/she has been an ambassador for the sector over the preceding 12 months –on a micro, macro, national or local level. The winner will have achieved success in its role and brought benefit to the wider healthcare sector through his/her dedication and expertise. Well done Sally, you really deserved this award. The RCSSA is honoured to have international professionals like Sally who stays committed and interested in the workings of the RCSSA. 2011 WORLD TRANSPLANT GAMES: GOTHENBURG SWEDEN As in 2009, two members of the Renal Care Society of South Africa are to participate in the 2011 World Transplant Games in Gothenburg Sweden from 17th-23rd June. Robyn Emslie, Healthy Start Practitioner for National Renal Care will compete in the 3km race walk as well as in Ten Pin Bowling. Robyn won a gold medal in Lawn Bowls in Australia in 2009 and we are convinced that she will come back with more medals. Heilie Uys will compete in golf, discus, shot put, javelin, and ball throw. She will be competing in her fourth World Transplant Games and has won gold in all of these items in the past. We wish them every success in the Games and as these two athletes always say: “Our transplants not only gave us New Life but it is our duty to proclaim a healthy active lifestyle to other transplantees” Matsie Pooe, Transplant Coordinator at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, not only acts as the “mother” of the athletes from Bara, but will also fulfil the position of attending nurse for the Team. Sally Taber, former Secretary/Treasurer of the EDTNA and Honorary Life Member of RCSSA visited South Africa during December 2010. Heilie Uys was honoured to entertain her and Nigel while visiting Cape St. Francis, on their way to Cape Town and catch up on old times.
